I can’t remember where I first heard about Laura’s webinar (I follow a lot of blogs!) but I was excited to sign up and ‘go to’ the webinar. I had never been a part of a live webinar before so I didn’t know what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. It was geared mainly toward 3rd-5th grade teachers, but 6th grade teachers could use some of the same information too, especially if they have students that are struggling with their math facts.
Laura shared some great ideas to use in the classroom to help all students reach 100% mastery on their multiplication facts. I was impressed that she is able to get all of her students to master their multiplication facts. She fostered a strong community with her students. Everyone worked together and helped each other learn the facts. There are a lot of engaging games and activities that Laura suggests teachers use in the classroom. If some of these same strategies would have been used when I was in elementary school I think my classmates and I would have had a much easier time learning them!
If you are interested, you can view Laura’s webinar below. It is just over an hour long.
She also has great free multiplication resources available over on her website! She has a sample of her book, Laura Candler’s Mastering Math Facts Multiplication and Division: Aligned with the Common Core and other free multiplication downloadables available here.
